Obsessive, compulsive.

My particular bend is the way we waste water. In my professional life, I have designed waste water treatment systems and recycling treatment for water. They have been highly successful (It's easy to succeed when all the technology has been around going on 100 years. No kidding.) There are real genuises out there doing great work, but most of it will never be seen or used. The public at large doesn't want to see it, or deal with it. Iv'e gotten to build two custom composting toilet systems, and am working on my third, but it takes real unique people to be that diligent. Most of what I've done in the past, I have watched as the systems fall into dilapidated states due to life changes or property being sold. Most of the systems were the result of code requirements, but a few were the result of idealism. Idealism can be a cruel and fickle master. I have finally come to believe I need to take it a little easier on myself, and to strive to be as responsible as I can and practice what I preach and believe. I know I'll stand the risk of being hammered for saying this and being branded fatalistic, but I believe we are so far past the tipping point with what we have done to the earth and her resources that there is no turning back. It will be after I die, but I firmly believe there is no will to change in any meaningful manner, and that the earth will treat us like any other pathogen that would attack it and shake us off like a fat tick. We can only be true to ourselves and live a respectful life with the earth and try to be at peace with the minuscule differences that we individually make. Collect-fully, it adds up, and I fully believe we should keep fighting for change, and take every action we can, but it seems to be the epitome of a fools folly to witness the rampant raping of the earth, and not feel a great, great, sadness at the lack of will to change it. Please forgive me.
