People and developers can now negotiate for things such as Complete Streets, which allow for a variety of alternative transportation, as well as walking distance neighborhoods, light rail lines, streetlamps, smaller single family homes with parking alleys in the back, one location family owned small businesses, parks, trails, greenways, shade tree boulevards, etc. This is an alternative to NIMBYism. Unfortunately, if people do not take charge of their government or form a collective bargaining group that seeks investors, NIMBY with a land use lawyer is their only hope.
